Salisbury Police Want Chandler For Murder in MdWanted by the Salisbury Police for Murder and other related chargesApril 12, 2009 SALISBURY MD NEWS -- A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Wicomico County Crime Solvers for the successful capture and prosecution of Ranson Chandler Jr. Salisbury police want Chandler for First and Second-degree murder, First and Second-degree assault, assault with a deadly weapon and a number of handgun-related charges. Ranson Chandler Jr. Is considered armed and dangerous. Ranson Chandler Jr. On September 24, 2006, at approximately 2:00 A.M., Salisbury police officers responded to the Queen City Elks Lodge on Catherine Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Alphonso Gwaltney, 34, lying on the ground next to his vehicle behind the Lodge. Gwaltney was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Gwaltney was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery, but later died of his injuries. According to witnesses, the Queen City Elks Lodge was closing for the evening and patrons were exiting through this side door of the Lodge into the parking lot when the two men began to argue. Chandler and Gwaltney went around back to fight, and Chandler shot Gwaltney in the chest. Salisbury police believe Ranson Chandler Jr. left the Queen City Elks Lodge and went to his residence at 410 Barnsdale Dr. In Salisbury, grabbed some belongings, and fled Salisbury, Maryland. Since then, anonymous tips have pointed police south towards Florida or Virginia in their search for Chandler. Ranson Chandler Jr. is described as:
