Virginia Bank Robber Captured

This lone gunman is violent and has assaulted several bank tellers.

RICHMOND VA NEWS -- A member of the general public contacted the FBI with information, which lead to the arrest of Hector Javier Caraballo on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Newport News, Virginia. Caraballo is charged with committing the eight robberies. A reward of up to $20,000 was offered for information leading directly to the arrest and conviction of a serial bank robber responsible for at least eight bank robberies in York and Henrico Counties, Virginia. This lone gunman, before capture, was violent and assaulted several bank tellers. Upon entering banks he immediately Brandishes a silver-colored revolver, approach the tellers, leaps over the teller's counters, and verbally directs tellers to empty their cash drawers.

This serial bank robber is believed to have robbed the following banks between November 7, 2006 and December 21, 2007.

  • Franklin Federal Savings and Loan, 5100 E. Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA on 08/24/2007
  • River City Bank, 109 E. Nine Mile Road, Highland Springs, VA on 06/30/2007
  • Citizens and Farmers Bank, 100 E. Williamsburg Road, Sandston, VA on 03/05/2007
  • BB&T Bank, 6720 Mooretown Road, Williamsburg, VA on 11/08/2006
Richmond Bank Robber

On February 25, 2008, this robber is believed to have attempted unsuccessfully to rob the Bank of McKenny on Jefferson Park Rd., and the BB&T bank on 5100 Oaklawn Blvd., both in Hopewell, Virginia.

The alleged bank robber,Hector Javier Caraballo is further described as a medium build, white Hispanic male, who speaks broken English with a Hispanic accent. He disguises himself with a fake beard, baseball cap, and a piece of tape across his nose. Additionally, he wears blue jeans, white tennis shoes, thick flannel shirt, and gloves. Furthermore the robber has been seen fleeing in a 2000-2005 blue Chevy Impala, late 1980s gray Honda Civic and a mid 1990s silver/gray Buick or Nissan. FBI agents and Henrico police conducted surveillance of Caraballo before making the arrest observing him switch license plates as well as add and remove window tinting from the car. In addition, Robbery witnesses identified Caraballo's car as similar to the suspected Bank robber's getaway vehicle.

Once again this bank robber is believed to have been captured in Newport News, Virginia. Way to go Virginia! Charges brought against Hector Javier Caraballo are merely accusations and this defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
