SANTA FE NM NEWS -- On December 1, 2007, Army Corp. of Engineers Park Ranger, Alfred J. Chavez, was investigating a trespassing onto federal property near Abiquiu Dam, New Mexico, located approximately 50 miles north of Santa Fe. When Chavez confronted the two trespassers, he was assaulted and shot several times. Chavez survived the encounter, but the two assailants escaped.

A combined reward of up to $20,000 is being offered by the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers and the FBI for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of Park Ranger Chavez's assailants.

The two assailants are described as follows:

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these two assailants or the Ford pick-up truck should contact FBI Albuquerque, at 505-889-1300 or the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Corps Watch at 866-413-7970.
