December 27, 2007 PHILADELPHIA PA NEWS -- Iris Matos is most wanted in connection with the murder of Anthony Montalvo. In addition, Iris Matos had an accomplice, Leonard Mas, both are being jointly sought by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and the Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force (VCFTF). According to Philadelphia police, 18-year-old Anthony Montalvo was fatally shot on the night of December 8, 2007, at Fourth and Cumberland Streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Police responded to a report of shooting at 11:27 p.m. to find Montalvo dying from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:48 p.m. The HIDTA/Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force believes the shooting followed an argument between Leonard Mas, Iris Matos and Antony Montavlo. Furthermore, the Philadelphia/Camden High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area is a multi-faceted program to reduce the cultivation, production, trafficking, distribution, and use of illegal drugs. The Philadelphia/Camden HIDTA focus is to increase the safety and quality of life of the citizens in the Philadelphia/Camden region of Pennsylvania and New Jersey by measurably reducing drug-related crime and violence. The HIDTA program is a partnership of local state and federal law enforcement agencies including the Philadelphia Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, INS, SS, Camden Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police. The Violent Crimes/Fugitive Task Force (VCFTF) is a sponsored initiative by the United States Marshals Service whose mission is to investigate, locate and apprehend fugitives. The Task Force primarily focuses on drug-related violent crimes and illegal criminal aliens involved in trafficking narcotics in sections of Philadelphia where there are a number of homicides within the HIDTA.
