January 21, 2008 ALBUQUERQUE NM NEWS -- Johanna Nez, a native American, has been captured in in Cortez, Colorado on December 15, 2007. Ms. Nez was wanted for felony kidnapping by the San Juan County Sheriff's Department, New Mexico. Johanna Nez was reported as a most wanted hunted offender eluding surrender (Hoes) on November 26, 2007. San Juan County, New Mexico borders three states, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. The San Juan County Sheriffs Department patrols an area of approximately 5,500 square miles, which is rural and federally owned. The land is mostly divided between the Federal Bureau of Land Management and the Navajo Nation, with less than 6 percent of San Juan County land being privately owned.
