Hooded Gang Committing Bank Robberies in DenverGang Using Take-over Tactics to Rob Banks in metro areaJanuary 31, 2008 DENVER CO NEWS -- A "take-over" style bank robbery took place on January 28, 2008, at approximately 9:48, at the Bank of the West located at 6565 E. Evens Avenue, in Denver, Colorado. The suspect gang of four robbers entered the bank with brandished handguns, and proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of cash. After the robbery, the criminals fled the bank in a stolen vehicle which was recovered by the Denver Police Department a short distance from the bank.
The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force is investigating this bank robbery as being related to a string of similar "take-over" robberies which have occurred throughout the Denver metro area at Washington Mutual Banks. In all of these robberies the suspects appear to be young dark-skinned males wearing hooded sweatshirts or jackets as well as masks, and are often using stolen vehicles to flee the scene of the robbery.
Furthermore, the violent nature of these "take-over" style bank robberies has caused the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force to offer a negotiable cash reward for information leading to the identification and capture of this gang of robbers working the Denver, Colorado area.
