$50,000 Reward Offered for Information to Solve Murder in New Haven

First 2007 New Haven homicide of Terrance Driffin shooting goes unsolved

December 10, 2007

NEW HAVEN CT NEWS -- A reward of up to $50,000 is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the criminal or criminals responsible for the murder of Terrance Driffin. Funding for the reward comes from the state of Connecticut, and is rewarded to individuals who provide sufficient information to successfully arrest and convict a person responsible for a crime.

Terrance Driffin

On May 9, 2007, 23-year-old Terrance Driffin was fatally shot while walking to his girlfriend's home in the Newhallville neighborhood. At approximately 11:30 p.m. Police received a 911 call of shots fired. Arriving on the scene, they found Terrance Driffin lying on the sidewalk in front of 365 Shelton Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Terrance was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Terrance Driffin's murder was the first of 11 homicides in New Haven, Connecticut in 2007, which only two have been solved. Police investigations have developed a scenario of what occurred; however, will not release information on the motive. Driffin's murder was the last of four shootings in New Haven that day, including a double homicide several blocks away on Bassett Street. There was no immediate indication that shootings are related. Furthermore, Detectives know there were witnesses on the street during the shooting and have information involving the case, but are unwilling to come forward with that information.

New Haven Police Chief Francisco Ortiz said, "We're asking the community to come forth and provide any information they have regarding this incident. We would hope that it wouldn't take reward money to get someone to come forward but as with any crime in the city, we want to seek justice here. The family wants to see their son's murderer brought to justice, and that's what we're committed to achieving."

New Haven Police have asked anyone with information about the murder of Terrance Driffin in Connecticut to contact the Homicide division at (203) 946-6304 or call (866) 888-TIPS.
