Lisa Lavoice Unsolved Cold Case

GAINESVILLE FL NEWS -- 30-year-old Lisa Lavoice of Gainesville, Florida, had beaten the subculture of sex, drugs, and Rock-n-Roll, and tried to move on with her life in Ocala. Unfortunately, Lisa fell off the wagon and began using drugs again. Miserably upset with herself for losing her daughter over a dirty habit, Lisa returned to Gainesville, to get clean and focus her attention on what mattered in her life - her daughter.

One undeniable truth about Lisa Lavoice was that she was not a quitter. A self reliant young woman, unemployed and on her own, Lisa resorted to illegal prostitution to sustain her needs. Street walking Waldo Road, in Gainesville, Florida, provided an ideal area to service Johns, the road was a direct route from the airport into the city. In addition, the wooded area along the 500 Block of Waldo Road provided enough privacy to turn a quick trick. Unfortunately, the wooded area also provided an ideal spot for murder.

Ironically, on the morning of October 18, 2000, the body of Lisa Lavoice was discovered in the wooded area of the 500 NE Waldo road, by a man walking his daughter to school. Lisa was last seen alive at a residence in the area the evening before she was murdered.

Little, is known of why Lisa Lavoice was strangled and brutally stabbed 18 times, but there are several possible scenarios. First, Lisa had provided information involving the abduction of a boy near her residence in Gainesville. Some of Lisa's friends believe that this "providing of information" may have led to her demise in the form of revenge. Another possible scenario is that in the underworld of prostitution, girls walk tracks. These tracks are controlled by gangsta pimps who take offense to trespassers in their territory. Although Gainesville has little true gang activity, it does have documented presence of four national gangs. Therefore, the possibility exists that Lisa was killed for trespassing. A final scenario, which can be offered is Lisa Lavoice was killed by a stranger for some sick unknown motive.

Sadly, this murder goes unsolved with few leads due to the nature of Lisa Lavoice's high risk lifestyle. Whenever people expose themselves to criminal activity, they are living outside the protection of the police, therefore, increasing their risk for possible victimization.

Despite the fact that Lisa Lavoice life was cut short at thirty, she did live a full life. Even though she had personal problems, Lisa was a well-known Karaoke singer with big heart who could silence a room with her beautiful voice. Lisa was also a trivia whiz, with the ability to use this skill to steer others onto a path to success. So, indeed Lisa Lavoice was a productive citizen who helped many people in her own way.
