Most Wanted Guatemalan Gun Moll
- Sara Elizabeth Cruz Mansilla de Paz According to the investigations of the CICIG and the Guatemalan Public Ministry, eleven individuals including a former Guatemalan policeman are responsible for the massacre. The Criminal Court of First Instance of Zacapa has issued warrants for the arrest of those individuals. Two, Juan Carlos Policarpio Chinchilla and Rony Eduardo Terraza Hernandez, have already been captured, but nine of the bandidos still remain fugitives at-large:
The general hypothesis accepted is the bus hijacking was planned by the cocaine and arms trafficking gang the day before the bus began its journey in Nicaragua and continued through El Salvador, eventually to be intercepted at Valle Nuevo in the department of Jutiapa, Guatemala. According to the MP, the gang met in an area of San Lucas, Sacatepequez, to plan the hijacking of the bus. After the gang allegedly intercepted the bus, the bus was driven to a field owned by Marín in Zacapa, where according to evidence at the scene, they murdered the passengers. The gang is believed to have been searching for illegal narcotics hidden on the bus. Furthermore, according to Police spokesman Donald Gonzalez, parts of the bus were torn away, as if someone had tried to find secret compartments. Additionally, the sixteen victims were shot before the bus was burnt explaining why there were no signs of victims attempting to escape. Moreover, unconfirmed rumors exist that between 18 and 22 kilograms of cocaine were being smuggled in secret compartments on the bus. The Taco Vendor's gang is known to have international connections and presumed links to public servants. Lastly, the gang is believed to have many enemies in the region of Zapata due to their reputation for hijacking illegal drug shipments.
